technology as an enabler to deliver new digital experiences to our guests
and associates, continuously delivered early and often. We leverage a
technology platform to support rapid innovation. This talk will outline
some historical developments of the platform concept, then dive into the
details of how to build one. Some of the key topics are talent and
culture, risk taking, automation, open source, and optimizing product
development flow.

Biography: Matt O'Keefe

Matt O'Keefe was selected as Chief Technology Officer for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in 2013. In his role, he is responsible for global technical architecture, technology standards, and software development to support eCommerce and Marketing.

Known for his systems thinking approach, O’Keefe has a knack for spotting unnecessary complexity and building foundations that support efficient, seamless user experiences. O’Keefe is most excited to be a member of the team that leads the company’s strategy for enabling technology to help address the needs of its many owners, thousands of colleagues and millions of travelers.

O’Keefe’s nearly 20 years of technology and software experience affords rich expertise and deep knowledge of the travel industry. Before joining Hyatt, O’Keefe served as Senior Technology Architect at Morningstar, Inc. where he was responsible for technical architecture, standards and platform services. Prior to that, he was Senior Architect and Director of three Agile web development teams at Sears Holdings. At Orbitz Worldwide, O’Keefe was Senior Software Architect and a member of the team that first launched Orbitz.com and built a global platform for online travel agencies.

O’Keefe graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
