Scrum in the real world

w/ Dina Friis

You are doing your best to follow the Scrum Rules. But sometimes the real world gets in the way. Half the team is on vacation, important meetings get in the way of the daily stand up and some stories are impossible to finish in one sprint.

Understanding the motivation behind the elements of Scrum helps you make decisions on how to handle these situations. Setting a direction for the continuos improvement helps you not to get stuck in a mediocre Scrum Implementation.

Dina Friis has a background as a Java Developer and Instructor. She has worked as a developer under a waterfall process. Today, she works as Scrum Master with three teams at Zendesk in Copenhagen. Her first meeting with Scrum was in 2007 and since then she has been a part of the community for writing Scrum Patterns.
