Is the inclusion of women in IT like the civil rights movement in the U.S.?

Short introduction presentation by Linda Rising

Black Americans didn't really achieve equality until the 1960s -- long after Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation and the end of the Civil War. Why did it take so long? Why does the inclusion of women in IT take so long? And are the causes related?

Discussion: Women in IT - again

Seems as if we put the same topic on the agenda meeting after meeting. Why are there so few women in IT, we think we know why (culturel, educational and family matters) and still no sign of changes in the gender ratio. Do we need a revolution? Should we leave it as it is? Change approach? Let's discuss with internationale speakers Linda Rising, Dave Thomas and Martin Fowler who are all keen advocates for more women in IT.
