Tom Jones provides the clinical leadership for the development of Oracle's Healthcare Transaction Base. Tom meets with clients, healthcare informatics standards organizations, and government representatives throughout the world.
Prior to joining Oracle, Tom spent 5 years at Oacis Healthcare Systems where he focused on the clinical functionality of applied informatics. From 1969 until 1995, Tom was at the University of Chicago. His role in the reorganization of the primary care delivery system at the University of Chicago was accompanied by broad recognition of the critical importance of primary care education and clinical activity at the university. As part of the development of the infrastructure for primary care education and clinical activity, Dr. Jones and his colleagues developed the Centennial Patient Care Workstation, a model for allowing clinicians to enjoy the benefits of new information technology. He received the Quantrell award for excellence in undergraduate teaching in 1992.
Tom received his MD from Stanford University in 1969. His undergraduate training was at the University of Illinois where he graduated with High Honors and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
