Chris Ferris, IBM
Chris is a Senior Technical Staff Member with IBM's Emerging Technology group. He has been involved in the architecture, design, and engineering of distributed systems for most of his 25+ year career in IT. He has been actively engaged in the development of open standards for XML and Web services since 1999. Currently, he is IBM's technical lead for activities related to WS-I where he chairs the Basic Profiles Working Group which is responsible for the development of the WS-I Basic Profile. He is an elected member of the OASIS Technical Advisory Board and he is also a co-author and editor of the WS-Reliable Messaging specification.
Prior to joining IBM, Chris was with Sun Microsystems for 12 1/2 years where he served as chair and editor of the W3C Web Services Architecture WG and as Sun's representative on the W3C XML Protocols WG, the OASIS ebXML Messaging TC, and the OASIS Security Services TC.
