Biography: Jan Neerbek
Jan Neerbek is employed at the Alexandra Instituttet, a Danish company specialized in building bridges between the Universities and companies in the private and public sector, particularly with regards to pervasive computing. Jan Neerbek has worked for many years with distributed solutions, from large-scale servers to embedded devices. Recently he has helped design solutions for large scale content management systems. He is currently part of a knowledge group on cloud computing, helping facilitate transition from on-site premises to the cloud.

Data mining, the problem of finding patterns in big datasets is both computational, storage and communicational intensive. And so it would seem to be an ideal candidate for moving to the cloud, right? In this talk we look at a case study where the Azure platform was chosen and on-site market basket analysis solution ported to .NET. We look at the families of solutions and point to their respective strengths and weaknesses. After the talk you should be better armed to choose between different tradeoffs in cloud solutions.
