Running applications in the cloud is both incredibly easy and incredibly hard. An application can yield great power from being able to change, upgrade and downgrade your infrastructure at any time, and to add new components like cloud storage. But to successfully run and deploy applications on an elastic cloud platform, there's a couple of things that will make your life a lot easier. 

We've been through this experience a dozen times over developing, deploying and running Scalarium, a cloud management platform, on EC2. I'll let you in on the trade secrets of what you can do to build and deploy reliable applications on the Amazon cloud.
