Abstract

Content

In retrospective, throughout the history of Android Design, we as developers have been working in the blind while most UI experts were busy playing with their iPhones. From the “Dark Ages of Gingerbread” blindly trying to elicit the true meaning of an Android Design, to the “Modern Era” of an obsessive-like need to follow the Google Guidelines once they became available.

However, we argue that strictly adhering to the guidelines is a double-edged sword: Your design gain the obvious benefits of user recognition and accustomization, but nothing makes it stand-out from the other roughly 1.3 million apps in the Play Store.

Through inspirational quotes, real world examples and specific tricks of trade - the aim of this talk is to awake your inner rebel and spark the desire of making your Android Design stand out from the crowd.
