Presentation: "Achieving Zen through Bundling Applications with Docker"

Track: Working in the Cloud / Time: Thursday 15:50 - 16:40 / Location: Hall 2

A look at how Docker can be used to provide specialised environments catering to niche requirements by wrapping applications along with their dependencies and configuration. For example, imagine starting on a new software-development project and being given a container holding an IDE configured with the coding standards, plug-ins and repositories used by the project rather than spending days getting a working environment up and running.

The talk will explore this technique and its potential benefits and applications, centring around a demonstration of using Docker and a customised version of Vim to provide a "writeroom" like writing environment.
