Presentation: Crosschannel Communication at eBay Kleinanzeigen

Track: Solutions Track Friday / Time: Friday 11:30 - 12:20 / Location: Hall 4

Running one of Germany’s biggest websites comes with many challenges. Enabling our users to communicate with each other in realtime and across channel boundaries (web, mobile-apps and e-mail) is one of them.

We’ve been extending our communication platform for three years now and recently launched a new version that is based on Java, Spring and Riak. Join us diving into the large scale architecture necessary to power realtime access to everyone’s messages. Which design decisions were the right ones? Is it possible to run such a rather complex application just with a key/value store? How do you handle 2 million messages a day and 15 TB of active data?

Enjoy our war stories!
