Presentation: "SOA/ESB from the Trenches - Beyond The Hype"

Time: Monday 13:00 - 13:45

Location: To be announced

Abstract: Technical journals today continue to promote the virtues of Service Oriented Architecture, they evangelise on how the magical power of SOA with its WS-* standards galore will enable organisations to be agile, to be flexible and allow them to seize control of otherwise unmanageable business process. They entertain us with tales of all the exciting destinations they can reach on the Enterprise Service Bus, But what does it take to deliver on these visions? When your client or employer asks you "So, what exactly is an ESB? Why do I need it? and How does it work?", where do you start? Does BPEL leave you baffled? Are you wise to WSDL? From architectural concept to implementation reality, this session will uncover, explore and explain the range of standards and practices important to anyone realising solutions to fulfil the vision of an SOA.
