"Docker - An Introduction & Its Uses" by Adrian Mouat

Abstract
In this talk, Adrian Mouat will look at how Docker can be used to provide specialised environments catering to niche requirements by wrapping applications along with their dependencies and configuration. For example, imagine starting on a new software-development project and being given a container holding an IDE configured with the coding standards, plug-ins and repositories used by the project rather than spending days getting a working environment up and running.

The talk will explore this technique and its potential benefits and applications, centring around a demonstration of using Docker and a customised version of Vim to provide a "writeroom" like writing environment.

Bio
Adrian Mouat is the Chief Scientist for Container Solutions, a pan-European services company who specialise in Docker and Mesos. Container Solutions focuses on the tools and how best to create environments for their successful adoption.

Adrian has recently worked developing a Docker based PaaS solution for a hosting company and has written several successful blogs on Docker. He is currently writing a book on Docker for O'Reilly publishing.
