"Eventually Elasticsearch: Eventual Consistency with ElasticSearch in a mixed SQL/NoSQL Landscape" by Anne Veling

Abstract
Based on the experience of an ElasticSearch implementation at bol.com, we'll discuss the consequences of different modes of operation of ElasticSearch in an environment of existing SQL databases. How can you connect ElasticSearch to change queues of other databases, how can the versioning mechanism be used to implement optimistic locking, and what are the consistency consequences of using ElasticSearch as either a freetext index on external data, a data cache or as the single source-of-truth system?

Bio
After a degree in Computer Science, Anne has worked in the search engine industry for several years, developing scalable knowledge extraction, processing and visualisation tools. Currently working as an independent contractor helping global companies implement complex new architectures that often involve searching through large data sets. He is an early Lucene adopter and delivers ElasticSearch workshops and performance optimisation sessions with customers. He's helped set up global development teams and processes, and is always working on too many little coding projects of his own, trying out new technologies. Outside of work, Anne balances his life by doing improvisational acting and canoeing.

Abstract
This year elasticsearch organises their first global conference. San Fransisco is the place to be for engineers doing something with elasticsearch. Too bad that not everybody can be there. Therefore Jettro is going to give you an impression of what took place at elastic.on 2015. He is going to give you the highlights of the presentations he attended. Provide insights in the new product features elasticsearch is creating in Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana.

Bio
Jettro Coenradie is the Fellow at Luminis Amsterdam. He has been delivering applications for over 15 years. In these years Jettro has learned the importance of a close connection between development and operations. Therefore he is a strong believer in the devops movement. One type of handover from development to operations is documentation, but the best one is good logs. Jettro likes to try out new stuff. That is why he recently got his motorcycle drivers license. On a motor bike you tend to explore different routes to get the best our of your bike and have fun while doing the thing you need to do, get from A to B. When exploring new technologies he also likes to explore new routes to find better and more interesting ways to accomplish his goal. Jettro rides an all terrain bike, he does not like riding the same ground over and over again. The same is valid for his technical interest, he knows about backend (elasticsearch, mongodb, spring data, spring integration) as well as front-end (AngularJS, Sass, Less) and mobile development (iOS, Sencha touch). Recently Jettro started experimenting with home automation using raspberry pi, Arduino and Zigbee.
