Mythbusters

Host
Martin Thompson
Track abstract
Technology has become such a huge subject which makes it a breeding ground for myths and legend that get enshrined as common wisdom. In this track we have presenters who have come to question common wisdom. Through research and experimentation they will seek to find plausible evidence to back the common wisdom or bust myths. Unlike our television counterparts we will unfortunately not be allowed explosives, but we will be actively involving our audience in our myth busting activities. How often do we hear that developers would be better off without project managers? Modern hardware has become so complex no ordinary developer could understand it? We need to make distributed computing appear like local computing so developers are shielded from the complexity? These are some of the topics we will explore with the goal of separating the fact from the fiction, the myth from reality, as we inject science and shine the light of truth on our common wisdom.
