Kris Manios, TweetDevOps Team Lead at Optiver
Biography: Kris Manios
Kris Manios is team lead of one of the DevOps teams at trading firm Optiver in Amsterdam.
Software engineer at heart, Kris has been programming for fun from an early age and has been following innovations in the technology space ever since. Joining Optiver as a Software Engineer in 2006, he has witnessed and participated in the transformation of a small start-up into a mid-sized company. Becoming a team lead along the way, Kris has helped maintain the 'start-up' feel by applying learnings from industry developments around Agile and other rapid innovation practices. As the pace of the industry is constantly increasing, Kris is looking for new ways to increase innovation speed, software quality and engineer effectiveness.
Presentation: TweetEngineering at a Trading Firm - an Agile Challenge
At Optiver, a proprietary trading firm, we need the most advanced technology and continuous innovation to remain successful as a global market maker. Over the years we have found that just 'going Agile' did not result in the culture we feel makes us most successful. To fully engage and enable our Engineers we needed to go against some of the teachings. In this session we share our experiences transitioning into an 'Agile company', the (less) desired consequences, and how we further adapted our organization recently in the ongoing quest to achieve our goals.
