Visual Programming & Data Visualization

Host
Axel Morgner
Track abstract
The paradigm of textual programming is predominant since the early days, although we as humans are heavily visually oriented. It has always been a desire to overcome the limitations of textual programming, but history has taught us that most 'point-and-click' interfaces cannot provide the flexibility and 'stack depth' programmers need. Some current trends show promising approaches, driven by fast browser engines and the ever-increasing computing power, and not least fueled by cheap GPUs and gaming engines. This track wants to give examples of visual programming and data visualization as it is today, demonstrating and discussing current approaches and tools, taking into account the influence of touch devices to our young generation, growing up with visual interfaces.
