Web APIs have become ubiquitous and are the cornerstones of many successful internet business models. The next generation of Web APIs will fully embrace the principles of the web by being hypermedia-focused and discoverable. Also, the massive scale of today's web applications requires architectural foundations that go beyond the layered web architecture of the past.
